Crossing Main Street in Janesville is this unique bridge.
Built in 1890 for both the Chicago & North Western, as well as the Milwaukee Road, it originally contained a single span deck girder bridge resting on stone abutments, the bridge was rebuilt in 1932 with I-Beam and trestle approaches.
A relatively early girder still in regular use, this span is scheduled for rehabilitation or replacement. There are currently no details on what alterations will be made to this bridge.
Currently, the bridge contains a pair of tracks, and is set onto stone abutments. Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair condition.
The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the older age of the common design.
